Although business employers have an obligation to ensure that a worker is competent and capable of do the job that they have been utilized, how far that individual wishes to formulate is largely ruled by their personal motivation and drive. There are of course, other factors which can be applicable and these will probably be discussed in further depth later with this paper.

David Kolb is an educational theorist who created one of the most helpful models to assist understanding of the expansion process. Kolb (1984) identifies experiential learning as " the process whereby knowledge is created through the modification of encounter. Knowledge comes from the mix of grasping and transforming experience. "

Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory presents a cycle of 4 elements as detailed in Figure 1 below.

The important point of Kolb's job is that learning and expansion is a constant cycle and although offered as a group of steps in this kind of diagram, in reality the steps might occur in virtually any order. Efficiency objectives then can be met and exceeded through the application of this model as individuals perform a process, reflect on what went very well and what needs to boost, understand how they can improve after which put in an agenda of actions to address the deficit.
